Sample submission to UBC Animal Care Services Diagnostic Laboratory

Please adhere to the procedures to ensure your samples are processed appropriately at the UBC Animal Care Services Diagnostic Lab:

1) Please arrange for Routine Lab Submissions to arrive at the the ACS Diagnostic Lab before 9:00 a.m. on the scheduled day, unless otherwise discussed with the lab coordinator diag.lab@ubc.ca or 604-827-4935.

2) Clearly and completely fill out the ACS Diagnostic Lab Submission form and email to diag.lab@ubc.ca, and also include the completed submission form with the shipment of animals to be processed. Without this form, we cannot guarantee that the sample will be processed correctly.

3) All carcasses/ tissues/ blood should be submitted promptly to avoid post mortem changes.

4) Send only the animals/samples you have previously scheduled, or notify the lab coordinator that there has been a change in the sample numbers.

5) Please clearly identify the animals and their transport packaging numerically from 1-10, etc. If all of your animals are to be processed over more than one day please start your numbering system for the second group from the last animal number you used in the previous shipment. For example: 10 animals are to be tested; 5 will be processed on a given day and should receive number 1 to 5. On the second given day the last 5 animals are to be processed and should then receive number 6 to 10. You will have to cross reference these new numbers to the corresponding animals when you receive the result.

6) If you have any questions, please contact diag.lab@ubc.ca or by phone 604-827-4935.

Please see below for instructions on how the samples should be submitted.
