Excellence in research is based on outstanding science and adherence to ethical, professional, and regulatory standards associated with the conduct of studies. Standard operating procedures, policies, and guidelines help educate individuals on the proper and current techniques accepted.
The policies and guidelines governing research are intended to support the University’s commitment to the highest standards of integrity, respect, academic freedom, and accountability in pursuit of its research mission including the commitment to following all laws and regulations related to scientific research.
Standard Operating Procedures

Animal Care Committee Policies
The ACC provides a collection of policy documents for use when planning acceptable animal procedures at UBC. The documents govern oversight of the care and use of vertebrate animals.
Animal Care Committee Guidelines
Guidance documents are available to assist users when performing animal procedures at UBC. They are designed to achieve policy objectives by providing a framework within which to implement procedures.
University Research Policies
Read UBC policies and guidelines that govern research at the University. These policies and guidelines are also intended to be consistent with the University’s principal goals of sustained excellence in research, education, and engagement.
