Animal Care Services - 2024 Winter Holiday Closure Dates

Dear investigators and research lab members,

Please be advised of our order and delivery schedule for the 2024 holidays. Some service areas including the ACS Business Office and the Training team will be closed or operating at limited capacity during the holiday season. We recommend planning your orders and service requests accordingly to minimize disruptions.
 

Service AreaHoliday Hours
Business Office & Procurement OfficeOffices closed Dec. 25, 2024 – Jan. 1, 2025. We will re-open at 8 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2025.
Animal Orders & Deliveries
  • Dec. 10: Submit orders prior to 12 p.m. for delivery during the week of Dec. 16.
  • Dec. 16-20: Last animal order deliveries for 2024.
  • Dec. 17: Submit orders prior to 12 p.m. for delivery during the week of Jan. 6, 2025.
Pharmaceuticals & Laboratory Supplies
  • Dec. 16: Submit orders prior to 12 p.m. for last AVP delivery of 2024.
  • Dec. 16-19: Last supply order deliveries for 2024.
Animal Transfers
  • Dec. 13: Submit transfer requests prior to 12 p.m.
  • Dec. 19: Last animal transfer for 2024.
  • Dec. 25, 2024 – Jan. 1, 2025: ACS loading docks closed for deliveries.
Diagnostic & Research Histology Laboratory
  • Diagnostic Lab: Closed Dec. 21, 2024 – Jan. 5, 2025.
  • Bacteriology: Submit last samples for in-house bacteriology on Dec. 11 unless prior arrangements made with the Diagnostic lab.
  • Research Histology: Closed Dec. 14, 2024 – Jan. 5, 2025.
Training ProgramClosed Dec. 21, 2024 – Jan. 1, 2025, unless prior arrangements made with the Training team.


Investigators will be assessed for animal technician time at a rate of $147/hour for requests to be carried out on statutory holidays at UBC when the University is closed.
