McGill University will no longer provide controlled substances to researchers holding a Health Canada Exemption to Use a Controlled Substance for Scientific Purposes. This means they can no longer be listed as the supplier on the Health Canada Exemption.
UBC Animal Care Services has an account with an alternate supplier CDMV, to allow researchers to order controlled drugs listed on their Health Canada Exemption.
For new controlled drug exemption applications or to amend your existing controlled drug exemption to change to the new supplier for an Exemption to Use a Controlled Substance for Scientific Purposes, please visit the following website for the application form:

Health Canada estimates it will take 3 months to approve amendments; we encourage you to submit amendments as soon as possible to avoid any potential disruptions to your research.
For any questions regarding exemptions, amending your current exemption, or ordering from CDMV, please contact your facility’s Clinical Veterinarian. For further information, please visit Controlled Drugs Application.
We previously communicated this change in May 2021.
