Animal Care Services (ACS) supports researchers exporting animals from UBC to another institution and can help coordinate the required veterinary inspection, documentation, and transport.
Exporting Animals from UBC
Before shipment, confirm that the receiving institution is prepared to receive the animals and that the required transport arrangements are in place. All animals being transported must be covered by a current, approved Animal Care Committee protocol.
The ACUP Procurement Team will assist in arranging the required veterinary inspection, which must occur within 48 hours of the planned shipment. The team will also provide the Veterinary Health Inspection Letter that accompanies the animals.
To assist the attending veterinarian, complete the Animal Inspection Application and email it to anca.orders@ubc.ca at least one week before shipment.
Exports may be subject to freight, handling, and CFIA documentation charges, where applicable.
Need Transport Support?
ACS provides supply and animal transport and transfer services for non-commercial imports and exports where applicable. Investigators wishing to use ACS transport services must complete the Transport/Transfer Request form and email it to anca.orders@ubc.ca. The ACUP Procurement Team will coordinate the transport.
