Applications for the 2018 Diane Minshall Memorial Award are now available. The Award was established in 2006 in honour of Diane Minshall. Diane was a dedicated, creative and gifted technician and manager who worked with research animals at St. Paul’s Hospital. Diane spent many years on the executive of the Canadian Association of Laboratory Animal Science (CALAS) and served as president for five of those years. She spent countless hours examining animal care technicians from across Canada who were working to achieve higher levels of competency. Diane also served on the UBC Animal Care Committee where she helped to review many hundreds of animal research proposals.
The Award is to be used for education and training related costs of travel to, and attendance at, conferences and meetings expressly pertaining to the welfare and improvement of conditions for research and laboratory animals. The Award is open to anyone within UBC and affiliated research institutions involved in the care and study of research animals.
