Introduction to Aseptic Techniques: Hands-on lab price change

July 10, 2019

Starting in January 2019, the ACS Introduction to Aseptic Techniques in Rodent Surgery hands-on lab portion of the course was extended to a full day in order to give students a more expanded “real world” learning experience. The course now has more hands on time with instrument handling to develop the skills required, suturing to ensure that proper knot security and tension is achieved, and practice with multiple sterile tip surgeries to understand how high throughput does not have to lead to decreased aseptic technique. The feedback from the students has been very positive. Since the course is now a full day, the cost for the course will be increased from $80 to $125 for UBC students/researchers and from $160 to $250 for external non-UBC researchers starting September 2019.
