Sample Laboratory Calendar
Rodents in Research and Restraint & Injections hands-on laboratories are typically offered in the first half of each month. Rodent Anesthesia, Tail Vein Injection, Aseptic Techniques in Surgery, and Oral Gavage laboratories are typically offered in the second half of each month.
Please keep this schedule in mind when making your online course enrollment and self-study plans.
Language of instruction requirements
English is the language of instruction and communication at UBC Animal Care Services. To ensure success in the hands-on laboratory portion of the courses, students must demonstrate an adequate level of understanding of spoken English. If a student does not have an adequate level of understanding of spoken English using some medical terms, please contact the training group at least one week ahead of the lab to discuss the options available for translation services.

Eligibility is limited to academic & non-commercial health research personnel working at the UBC Point Grey campus and its affiliated sites only. Registrations from industry employees for commercial purposes are not permitted and will be cancelled.

For staff and investigators working or conducting research at the UBC Okanagan Campus in Kelowna. Eligibility is limited to academic & non-commercial health research personnel only. Registrations from industry employees for commercial purposes are not permitted and will be cancelled.
Life Sciences Partners
This enrollment is intended for external non-UBC researchers, technicians, and staff from the commercial biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and life sciences sectors. It is ideal for personnel from commercial enterprises engaged in preclinical development.
